Online work from home jobs – The idea of a work from home job appeals to a lot of people. how to earn money from the internetThere are often stories in the media of different people who have given up their usual jobs and have managed to earn more money from the comfort of their own home than they ever did at their ‘Normal’ job.  The idea may seem appealing but its not always that simple to pull off.


In this first part of the article I am going to give tips and advice on what it takes to make a home based business work.  Make no mistake people, a work at home job must be looked on as a business with you as the boss.  You are responsible whether you achieve success or not.


In the second half of the article I am also going to outline a particular way on how to earn money on the internet in the comfort of your own home without actually having a website.  All you need to do is sell yourself and your knowledge and expertise.

Before I get to that part you have to understand that anyone who works from home needs to be able to separate their home life from their work life. This might seem quite simple to do but in reality it can be quite difficult.  This is especially so if you are a couple with young children or a single mom or dad.


For example;  Lets take a single working parent.  When you go to work you do not even think about the washing, or ironing, the television, or the fact that the house could be in the same untidy mess you left it.  When you’re at work you have to fully focus on the job you are doing.


However when you are working from home all of these duties are in your face and it can be very easy to fall into a trap.  This would mean where you are doing more household work, than your actual business work or work from home job. It is therefore very important to be strong and disciplined.


Working To A Schedule And Home Business Plan Of Action


I have been working from home for over ten years, and I started out setting my own hours.  I also had a plan that set out my goals for each and every day.  This was all aimed at reaching my ultimate goal of being financially independent which I’m happy to say I have now reached.  You would be very wise to have your own plan of action before you start, such as outlined in the graphic below.

For example I will work from 8.30 in the morning, until about 12.30 when I break for a bite to eat. I have an home office space which I will only leave if I really need to, maybe to make a drink or to go to the toilet. Then I’m back at work until about 4 in the afternoon.  I love to watch the television, therefore I do not have a television in my office.  When you’re working you must not have any distractions.  Its also a must to have a schedule or timetable that barring an emergency you know you can stick to.


To succeed at working from home you need to have a great deal of self belief in your own ability. There are likely to be peaks and troughs, some months you are flying high but in others everything seems to go wrong. Having confidence in your own ability is essential in helping you to ride through the negative periods.


I always feel that it is worth saving money from the periods when I am doing well to cover the periods when the business slows down.


Working From Home As Your Own Boss


People who are interested in work from home online jobs also need to be able to keep motivated. There is no boss to make us work or other people to bounce ideas off. Some people find that working from home can be quite lonely and soon return to an employed environment where they are able to have greater contact with other people. It is also important to remember all of the benefits of working from home when we have a drop in business or when we feel a bit lonely.


In my opinion there is nothing better than being self-employed and working from home. I am sure that many other people could also make it work as long as they have the right attitude.

It isn’t too hard to figure out what to charge. Start by contacting local support service businesses in your area. Ask them if they can send you a price list. Get several of these to learn what everyone else is charging. You don’t want to charge too much and you don’t want to under price yourself so you look like you don’t do great work. Find the happy medium and go with that amount. Prices are not set in stone.  If you have to change your prices down the road, so be it.


Get Some Business Cards Printed


If you want to look professional, make sure you get some business cards to send and hand out right away. You never know when you might meet someone who needs the services you’re offering. When that time comes, all you need to do is pull out your card and hand it to them. Never be without your business cards!

Advertising Your Work At Home


Since you already have a relationship with your family and friends, don’t forget to tell them about your new VA business. While your brother or sister might not need your services, there’s a good chance that they might know someone who does. You can start networking right away with those you already know.


Think about designing a letter or oversized postcard about your service and send it to everyone you know. Maybe even include a picture of yourself, the name of your business, the services you offer and ask that if they can’t use your service, to please recommend your business to others who might.  If you send a letter, include a couple of your business cards for passing on to your possible clients.

A press release is a great way to start your business off with a bang. I want to mention here though that a press release is not something you just send out when you open your business. I’ll talk more about this a little later.

I have been working at home and at the office for about 8 years and I have seen my own struggles when I don’t have a schedule.

      I always try to give as much information as possible so that the readers of my articles can make an informed decision as to what they want to or can do.

      From the comments I receive I believe that I am succeeding  because I get a lot of people coming back again and again.

      I found very early on in my online career that a schedule really is a must have.

      There are a lot of tips and advice within the article that you can implement as soon as you have decide on your first course of action.

      This is of course before you actually get your business and or job of the ground.

      You have to do the ground work first and have a clear plan of action before you get started.  Such as finding out what you can charge for your services.
